Description

I have made some test on this game and it work only on Interpreter.

On Jit it stuck on the main loading screen.

I see with debugger the problem comes from a loop in the code.

800f40bc lwz r0, -0x74D8 (r13)
800f40c0 cmplwi r0, 0
800f40c4 beq+ ->0x800F40BC

Something does not work well on this portion of code.

Can we just roll back the 4730 commit?? Looks like it did much more harm than good.

issues 1872 ,1802 and 1253 can be merged into this as svn r4730 is the problem

Strange issue, maybe now that nitsuja has fixed a bug with the scheduling, it could be fixed...

The use of a DVD thread should be optional.

I would say yeah, unless a complete fix is upcoming. At least, provide users the
ability to play all these broken games until a better implementation can be
introduced - it has been almost 5 months. Or maybe just revert the changes until a
better method is found - not sure what this helps except for more accurate emulation?

wespipes69, it helped the developers fix bugs in Dolphin. I wouldn't want that
change reverted to how it was unless it was made optional.

Sure, I agree with that. Does there happen to be any update or plan for this by
chance? Was there any other games broken by the removal - is it just Mario Golf and
Medabots?

Looks like there's no owner of this anymore. :(

Also, no change in behavior, though the error messages are just hundred of "read" errors now. Hopefully, with all the big changes around here lately, something or someone will fix this. Maybe we can just make this an "optional" hack until a permanent solution is found - just like the new Fifo sync hack? It's been literally 1000 revs. since Mario Golf worked - it would be good to have it working back.

It should be mentioned that the NTSC version of Mario Golf is a seperate issue - it have never been able to be launched in any rev., whereas the PAL version can at least get to the menus.

Anyway, let me know if you need anymore info or testing for this!

May I ask what the plan with this issue is currently? Is it to reincorporate the former DVD thread functionality, completely fix the system so all these games are compatable again, or to make this a selectable option (which at least would be great in the short term)? Just looking forward to getting some kind of fix in place for this very old regression. :) Good luck!

And again as mentioned in the above post, the NTSC version of the game has a (seemingly) completely different problem - and should be unmerged if possible.

Skidau, is this really the same issue? One game doesn't boot at all, while the other just can't load into gameplay. The NTSC version didn't work before r4730 whereas the PAL version apparantly did. I mentioned the difference many times in this thread.

Sounds like there's some different things going on here, but I'll leave that to the experts to decide. :)

Any traction on getting this issue resolved and getting Mario Golf working again soon? :) It's been broken for so long (almost a year coming up).
