Description

Okami Wii uses some sort of effect that looks rather bad on high resolution monitors.

It requires EFB to Ram and Accurate Texture Cache for the game to display correctly, so I'm pretty certain this is not an emulator problem, as much as it is a problem with an effect designed for SD being scaled up to HD and causing some havoc. Turning EFB off results in a frozen image. Integral and Fractional EFB scales appear to give the best image, other EFB Scales resulted in an even blurrier image. EFB to Texture causes problems, but they have an interesting side effect.

EFB to Texture freezes the effect. The result is a ghost image of the frame it was disabled on, however, it gives a glimpse of what the game could look like without the effect. It is considerably clearer and nicer, akin to what it should look like on the higher resolution.

Hopefully there is a way to fix this effect. But if not, a hack to disable it outright would be appreciated.

Dolphin version with the problem: 7408

Operating system and version: Windows 7 x64

Game ID: ROWE08

Was the ISO a plain dump from disc, compressed and/or scrubbed? Plain ISO Dump

With Anti-aliasing does the effect get better or not?

Not really. The model comes through a little clearer, but the overlayed effect is just as bad as ever. See attached.

And ticking enable cache in the copy to RAM option changes something?

"Enable Cache" in the copy to ram option has no effect.

Hey guys, I have the same problem!

I also have this game and I've enabled EFB-RAM and Cache Enable "and then the image of the game just fine but then the game looked very drawn.

But if I activate the textures when the game goes at full speed but when the picture is weird.
Have tried Accurate Textur -Cache but it does not help.

Specifications:
Processor: Intel Core i5 760 Quad-Core 2.80Ghz 8MB Cache memory.
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 1GB
DirectX 11, OpenCL, DirectCompute, OpenGL 4.0
Memory: 4GB 1333 MHz.
Operating Systems: Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 64bit.

So the picture is very strange if I use the texture but not in EFB-RAM but then it goes way too drawn.

But the texture is full speed EFB not RAM.

So, out of curiosity, I fired up an old version. Picked 7122 32bit, and fired it up. Leaving all settings the same, minus custom wiimote controls. The problem was there, exactly the same as it was in the newest build. That is DEFAULT SETTINGS.

And this is the best the game can get. Most other settings either have no effect or just screw it up. (like EFB off or EFB to texture)

Also note that it was present in all resolutions full screen and windowed. It's really hard to see it at 640x480, but it's there, you just have to squint. Alot. The duplication gives it away.

I am not sure, but it might be present on the wii game itself. I have a TV Tuner and a wii with the game, so I've been trying to spot it. It's just so FUZZY! It could just be an effect that works in SD but when taken to HD it goes bananas. But I don't know, it's really hard to tell. shrug

I think you are right when you said, "It could just be an effect that works in SD but when taken to HD it goes bananas". It is either that or the bugged bloom effect in Dolphin (issue 2068).
