Description

[The following is a template to help you fill out a more informative
report]

Note:
Many games do not run yet, or have known problems. Please do not report
those games without giving any more information. That means reports like
"Game XYZ crashes" are not helpful. Instead try to include as much debug
information as possible. Also try to search the issue tracker for similar
bugs before creating a new issue.

--------------------------------------

  1. Game Name and ID (as it appears in right click > properties: "GZ2P01",
    "RSBE01", etc):

F Zero GX GFZP01

2) What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Each racing sprite has a square shadow below it

3) Did the game ever work correctly (i.e. not have this problem) on an
earlier version of dolphin? Please specify the exact revision when the
problem began.

displaying correctly on r7723 - but game speed ?may be slower than currently. Appears perfect on r7402

4) What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. Start a grand prix race - enter emerald cup
  2. Game starts, as soon as racer lifts off during countdown shadow is visible
    3.

5) What version of dolphin are you using (32bit/64bit along with the
version as it appears in the title bar, etc)?
On what operating system, drivers, and hardware? Be sure to list OS,
graphics driver information, and video card model if you are having
graphics problems, for example.

Linux Fedora f15 x86_64, Nvidia Geforce gtx460
Dolphin 3.0-235

6) Please provide any additional information below.

Apologies for all these bug reports. Just doing a mass test of games I should have done awhile ago!

7) Attachments. IMPORTANT! We have a limited storage quota on
GoogleCode, so please use a 3rd party host for screenshots or any other
files (http://min.us/ for example).

Upload two screenshots please, one showing the broken and one showing the correct behavior.

Also, could you upload a fifo player file for one frame where the problem is visible? (preferably one where it's VERY noticeable)
To create one, follow these steps:

  1. Start Dolphin
  2. Select "Tools->Fifo Player" from the menu
  3. Select the "Record" tab in the dialog that pops up.
  4. Set the number of "frames to record" to 1.
  5. Start the game (do NOT close the dialog)
  6. When you reached a place in the game where the problem is obvious, press the "Record" button in the Fifo Player dialog.
  7. Wait a bit until the "Save" button isn't grayed out anymore.
  8. Press the Save button and pick a location to store the fifo log.
  9. Upload the .dff file and post a link here.

Do NOT attach the files, use an external host instead, please.

Sorry to use fast-files - suggest an alternative if it's too much of a pita

Imageshack for screenshots and something like mediafire or megaupload or dropbox for the fifo log...

There's no difference between the two screenshots you posted.

btw I also submitted possibly similar issue 5120 about ikaruga - at least some shadow issues there. I'll post fifo log and picture links there now.

You have to have EFB>Ram on to have proper shadows all the time. EFB>Texture only gives you correct shadows sometimes. This is a known issue and how it's always been.

Not sure if this is even a valid report since EFB>Texture does not follow correct FB rendering process. I would love this to work with EFB>Texture too because of the speed boost, but no sure if that's even possible.

This game just has a lot of "needs" - SC for stability, needs to be started a few times to actually boot, MMU needed, DX9 only (regression), and of course EFB>Ram for shadows. Hopefully, someone can improve the emulation for this popular title!

You're right. EFB > RAM corrects this issue for me.
Interestingly no real slowdown from changing the setting (although slows other games down).
