Description

Game Name?
TMNT 2013

Game ID?
SX7E52

What went wrong?
All audio in the game has extreme static (bgm, voices).

What did you expect to happen instead?
Clear audio (like on my other 50+) titles.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have played the game and know its level names. Be as
detailed as possible.]

  1. Launch and listen

Dolphin 3.5 and Dolphin 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs. Have you tested with the latest version from
http://dolphin-emu.org/download ?
Yes.

Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
4.0-142

Which version of Dolphin used to work?
None.

What are your PC specifications (example: Operating System, CPU and GPU)?
Win 8, Sandy cpu @ 4.3, Geforce 660.
64 or 32 bit Operating System?
64
64 or 32 bit Dolphin?
64
Any other relevant information (e.g. logs, screenshots, configuration
files)
Game is full speed. Tried all sound settings/backends.

Misc. playability notes:

  • Idle skipping off = fullspeed 30 FPS/60VPS
Idle skipping on = slow 45 FPS/45VPS (weird)
  • The right 1/5 of screen is black on DX11, and smeared on DX9
  • Need safest STC to prevent missing letters.

I should add there also seems to be a constant buzzing sound on top of all the static.

Does this occur in DSPLLE or only in DSPHLE?

Actions #3

Updated by wespipes69 over 10 years ago

Exact same with LLE. As I mentioned I tried all audio settings possible.

Actions #4

Have you tried progressive scan? It helps in some cases with audio issues (disney planes, snes vc games, etc.).

Actions #5

Updated by wespipes69 over 10 years ago

I did when I was trying to fix some of the gfx issues. No change in sound sadly.

  • Category set to dsplle

Hmm, this issue seems to have existed always with dsp lle and became an issue with hle too after the ax hle merge.

Sounds is still garbled/staticy.

Not only corrupted sound... Graphical anomalies as well including random letters missing from menu items and dialog boxes.

Turn on safe texture cache.

Have the audio changes in the last couple months fixed this?

There was a graphics bug introduced since 4.0.2 that I will bisect.

Actions #12

Updated by WesaMcDaniel over 9 years ago

Nope, there's still a weird buzz + static in HLE or LLE.

Actions #13

Updated by JMC4789 over 9 years ago

This may be fixed in latest development build? A modification to prevent static in HLE was merged... but that wouldn't affect LLE. May as well give it a shot, though.

Actions #14

No it is not fixed.
Still the worst audio from any emulated Wii game.
Can this be accepted?

I like to confirm on my own, but, this game is too expensive, so meh. It'd be nice to figure out what was going on though.

As a note:
The black borders seen on the game have been fixed with XFB.
D3D needs it set to real and OpenGl can work with it set to virtual.

But of course that alone does not solve all the graphics problems because safe textures is also needed.

Actions #17

Updated by wespipes69 over 9 years ago

Strange. With XFB set to real on DX, Dolphin crashes (4.0 3964). Only with this game. With Virtual, the border is still there. Very fussy game.

@wespipe
Hey. Where is it crashing for you? I tried 4.0-3964

Actions #19

Updated by wespipes69 over 9 years ago

Doesn't even get to wiimote screen. All other games work fine with Real XFB for me.

Actions #20

Updated by ZephyrSurfer over 9 years ago

Does OpenGl + Real XFB work for you?

Actions #21

Updated by wespipes69 over 9 years ago

On OGL+Real or Virtual XFB, I just see a strip from the left side on the right side (instead of a black strip like on DX). So that's actually worse.

It should be noted that 'idle skipping' works fine now for this game.

Can you close the emulator and navigate to Documents and rename the "Dolphin Emulator" folder and try OpenGl again?

The difference we're seeing is either that or because you have an NVidia card whereas I have an AMD card

Actions #23

Updated by wespipes69 over 9 years ago

I have it set to use/write stuff in the local directory. So I'm not sure how I could do suggestion 1.

I also have a Nvidia card and just tried the latest driver with no change in results. I should mention that it causes the driver to crash as well (i get a nvidia driver has recovered error message when dolphin crashes)

Actions #24

Updated by ZephyrSurfer over 9 years ago

Ignore suggestion 1 entirely then so.

So wait you have a Geforce 660 but also another NVIDIA card?
Is there an earlier version of Dolphin which doesn't crash under these circumstances. Maybe some bug was introduced?

Actions #25

Updated by wespipes69 over 9 years ago

No, I only have the 660.

I'll try to find the rev, but don't have too much time these days. Regardless, we do have a 100% crash (on my config). We should be able to track down the error.

Actions #26

Updated by ZephyrSurfer over 9 years ago

@Wespipe you know how to bisect right.

Try A very old build(lets say 4.0.2) if it works find a build in between that and now.
Else try an even older build 3.0 if it works find a build halfway between that and 4.0.2

Rinse and repeat.

Thanks for looking into it.

Can someone rename this to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(2013) has corrupted sound"

Actions #28

Updated by ac.schneid about 9 years ago

is this still being worked on? i have tried every config on the planet, i have gtx 970 and an intel 3930k with 16gb ram, so its not like my PC cant handle this. this game the tmnt 2013 by nickelodeon game would be super fun to play but with the sound so messed up it makes it horrible to bother trying.

does anyone know what the specific error is or have any other ideas of what to do or how to fix this?

Actions #29

This may be fixed. Can it be retested?

Actions #30

Just retested across the audio emulation settings; distorted, scratchy audio continue with this title.
