Description

Metroid Prime 3 (RM3E01) and Metroid Prime Trilogy (R3ME01) have blue FMVs in latest master starting with 4.0-216 (r4dc1881f58f0). Gameplay is unaffected, but every FMV is... very blue.

Occurs in D3D and OpenGL, and I tried tons of settings, even RealXFB. Nope. The only thing that doesn't have it is software, but uh, it's terrible.

Curiously though, it will just... stop being blue for no apparent reason. It was just sitting in a menu and went away, without any interaction. T-Rog also stated that it goes away even while the video is still going. No idea why it does that.

Tested builds:
4.0 win64 - Fine
4.0-88 win64 - Fine
4.0-108 win64 - Fine
4.0-169 win64 - Fine
4.0-181 win64 - Fine
4.0-204 win64 - Fine
4.0-206 win64 - Fine
4.0-216 win64 - Broken
4.0-227 win64 - Broken
4.0-265 win64 - Broken
4.0-298 win64 - Broken

Tested on Systems:

MaJoR
Intel Core i5 3570K @ 4.7ghz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 760
Windows 7 x64

JMC47
Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.4ghz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 760
Windows 7 x64

T-Rog
Core i7 3610QM @ 3.3GHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M
Windows 7 x64

JMC47 did most of the revision testing, and T-Rog discovered it, and I did testing for settings and stuff.

Marking as accepted because of multiple confirmations from differing systems.

I never said it would go away on its own while the video is still playing.

But, if you exit the menu and go back to the title screen, the blue does not come back.

But it did happen to me. Just had the menu idling and it just stopped, no interaction.

I guess this issue is shown in a fifo log?

I can confirm it does go away after a while.

I think this issue might be affecting other games, and not just FMVs. Certain scenes in Metroid: Other M are also tinted blue, and these are rendered in-game. The issue starts at the same master build as the title screen bug in Prime 3, though in Other M it also seems to blur the game (maybe this is correct behavior in this instance).

Screenshots are useless. Provide a fifo log: http://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer

It seems that some recent revision fixed the issue with Other M's cutscenes, so I guess that was unrelated to this issue- however, I've taken a fifo log of Prime 3's title screen.

This bug is not reproducible by fifolog. In fifologs both before and after revision that started the blue FMVs (4.0-216), Fifologs of the FMVs show as grey. Zero color. Fifologs made before 4.0-216 and after 4.0-216 behave identically, no matter the build it is viewed in. So, with this issue existing beforehand, there's no way to see the blue FMVs in a fifolog.

Regardless, here's a fifolog in the Trilogy main menus. The FMV is grey, but the icons are in color. Perhaps it will be useful.

I already confirmed this, plus I know how to make it go away. The blue FMV will go away as soon as you point the Wiimote at the screen. After that the game is normal.

I thought I posted that info before but I guess I didn't.

Actually r2754c113 cause this issue, not just r4dc1881f58f0-it's a whole branch commit

Galop1n discussed the solution to this on IRC a while ago. Is there any reason it wasn't implemented or discussed here? It's also fixed in his D3D Speedup branch.
