Game Name?
Boom Blox

Game ID?
RVL-RBKE-USA

What's the problem? Describe what went wrong in few words.
Only light throws could be performed.

What did you expect to happen instead?
Power throws, just like before 4.0-553.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Don't assume we have ever played the game and know any level names. Be as
specific as possible.]

  1. Get Boom Blox Wii ISO
  2. Choose level of your choice
  3. Try to shake the emulated wiimote

Dolphin 3.5 and 3.5-367 are old versions of Dolphin that have
known issues and bugs, so don't report issues about them and test the
latest Dolphin version first.
Which versions of Dolphin did you test on?
4.0-553, 4.0-552

Does using an older version of Dolphin solve your issue? If yes, which
versions of Dolphin used to work?
Yes. Versions prior to 4.0-553 solve the issue.

What are your PC specifications? (including, but not limited to: Operating
System, CPU and GPU)
Windows 8.1, i5 3350P, GTX 650 Ti BOOST, 8GB RAM.

Is there any other relevant information? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files)

Please test using the latest development version.

Okay, but I tested on the latest version. The issue is still there like it's not noticed for a thousand builds.

That commit makes no sense.

The commit was made to change the emulated wiimote shaking mechanism to fix DJ Hero's record spinning problem, but has caused regressions.

No, it only affected the turntable attachment. Shaking was not affected by that commit at all.

Hmm, 4.0-553 was compiled from (maybe) commit c5695c987b75628315f2189085e10eddb3442ff4 and the description is wrong so maybe it could be commit c5695c987b75628315f2189085e10eddb3442ff4 all along.

That makes a lot more sense.

So will you try to fix it?

Hello?

Need a developer to investigate the new commit you bisected to.

Then contact one of Dolphin's major contributors.

Anyways, here's a recap. On the OP, it said that 4.0-553 caused regressions in such 2 games, but there was confusion, so I tracked Jordan's commit list and found the true cause which is commit c5695c987b75628315f2189085e10eddb3442ff4, so 4.0-553 had the wrong desc.

  • Status changed from New to Accepted
  • Regression set to Yes

We need some kind of hardware tests or something, unfortunately.

Wii Sports is affected too, with being unable to catch any fish.

Actions #16

Updated by marcusorillo over 9 years ago

Sorry I meant Wii Play, NOT Wii Sports.

Actions #17

Updated by marcusorillo over 9 years ago

Unfortunately, the only ways we can test are Wii titles that incorporate shaking your Wiimote.

If I could figure out how to catch a damn fish on an emulated Wiimote, i'd confirm this.
